Definitions 'You' and 'Your' mean the person making the booking and the accompanying people hiring the cottage. 'Us', 'Our' and 'We' refer to the Waleshideaway company. 'Owner' refers to the owner of the cottage with whom you are booking.
Booking – Bookings are only accepted from over 18’s and are only treated as definite once confirmation has been given by the owner in writing. By booking the cottage you are indicating acceptance of all our terms and conditions.
Payment methods – Payments can be made via cheque directly to the owner of the cottage. We have the facility to take payment by major credit cards, however, the large fees levied by credit card companies on small businesses means that we must unfortunately make a charge of 3.5% per transaction.
Payment – Bookings made more than six weeks in advance, require a 20% deposit to secure the let within 7 days. The remainder of the payment should be made within six weeks of the beginning of the let. We reserve the right to re-let the cottage if final payment has not been made, in which case any deposit will be retained. Bookings made within six weeks of a let must be accompanied by payment in full.
Alterations – Changes to the date of let may be made more than six weeks before the original start date of the holiday. If the price between the original and new holiday dates differs, you will be charged the greater of the two.
Arrival / departure – Lets normally run on a weekly basis with the change over day and arrival/departure times specified on the general information page for each cottage. Alterations to departure or arrival times will be considered but only if requested in writing in advance.
Restrictions – Each cottage owner may impose their own restrictions on who may stay including pets, children and smokers. These restrictions are clearly shown on the general information page of each cottage and also in your welcome pack once you have booked.
Your obligation – You are obliged to leave the cottage in an acceptable clean and tidy state. If there are any breakages you must notify us as soon as possible to ensure that we can rectify them before subsequent lets. We acknowledge that accidents happen, however, we reserve the right to charge for any significant breakages or where you have been particularly negligent. We also retain the right to charge a fee if the cottage has been left in an unacceptably dirty or untidy state.
Right of entry - You must allow the owner and/or workmen to enter the cottage at any reasonable time to carry out repairs when deemed necessary. In the case of an emergency the owner retains the right to enter the property without prior notification.
Problems – If there are any problems during the course of your stay you should bring them to the owner's attention immediately, to give them the opportunity to rectify the situation. No subsequent claims for compensation will be entered into if this is not the case.
Cancellation – If you wish to cancel your holiday, we will attempt to re-let the property. If successful we will give you a refund less 10%, otherwise all payments received will be forfeited.
Breaking of terms – If you fail to comply with any of these terms and conditions the owner retains the right to refuse entry to the property or repossess the property during your stay. In such circumstances we will treat this as a cancellation and the full price of the let will be forfeited.
Disabled access – The suitability of each cottage for disabled users is clearly defined on the general information page of each cottage.
Circumstances beyond our control - If due to circumstances beyond our control the cottage becomes unavailable, you will be notified as soon as possible and a full refund will be made by the owner. In such circumstances, we will not be liable for any further losses and no further claim will be made against us.
